I Moved to Connecticut! And Bought a Victorian House!

If you follow me on social media, you may already know that I packed it all up and moved from Nashville, TN to Stratford, Connecticut in September of this year! People keep asking me - why Connecticut? The answer is simple: my partner Victor is from this area, and needed to move back to be closer to his aging grandfather. As someone who was very close with my own grandparents, I completely supported this decision. We began to put our plans in place last winter, and I immediately started looking at real estate.

My big goal for the past few years has been to buy a Victorian house - and we somehow managed to find the most incredible home! After months of obsessing over the Realtor app and looking at every property in our price range, we decided to drive up to Fairfield County, Connecticut and see for ourselves. We met with our real estate agent who took us to see close to 20 houses in 2 days - which was very intense - and that’s when we saw it: The Angel House.

Julie, our agent, said that she wanted us to see this house because it would be “perfect” for us. We each spent about 8 minutes looking around and inside the home (our dog Ziggy was with us and couldn’t come inside, so one of us had to wait with him in the air conditioned car while the other went inside with Julie). In those mere 16 combined minutes, we fell in love with a very unique house. Built in 1895, this Victorian farmhouse had been well-kept and much loved, and even had the moniker “The Angel House.”

It was meant to be. We put in an offer the very next day and a day after that, it was accepted! We began to wrap up our affairs in Tennessee and started packing our belongings. In early September, we closed on the house and moved ourselves, Ziggy, and my photography business to a brand new state.

I never even dreamed of living in New England, but I can tell you that I absolutely LOVE it here! It is such a charming, quaint region. Everyone has been so friendly - seriously the DMV experience I had here was hands down the best I’ve ever had. And yes, it’s getting cold and I’ve reevaluated my entire winter wardrobe, but it’s very exciting to be in such close proximity to NYC and Boston, not to mention this is the first time in my life I’ve ever not been landlocked!

I wanted to share some of the photos of the Angel House with you, and soon I’ll be able to show some of the progress we’ve made on redesigning the style to fit our taste. I want to provide the most unique and comfy location for boudoir photography in Connecticut and beyond! The downstairs parlor and upstairs bedroom will be totally dedicated to photo shoots and I can’t wait to show you how it progresses. For now, check out these exterior photos and stay tuned to see more!
