Hair & Makeup for Boudoir Photo Shoots: What to Expect

Let's Talk Hair & Makeup for Boudoir Portraits!

Each portrait session of the La Photographie Experience includes pro hair and makeup.

Hello Gorgeous! Getting glammed up is one of the best parts of preparing for your photo shoot! It is absolutely an act of self care. Getting your hair and makeup done is a great addition to the day, and gives you an opportunity to relax and get pampered before getting in front of the camera.

Because every photo shoot with La Photographie is completely custom, hair and makeup will be different for each client! You may be going for a high glam look with a smoky eye and a bold lip, or you may prefer a more "natural" look with neutral tones. Everyone receives lashes as part of their makeover, and depending on your style the lashes may be simple or more extravagant.

It can be helpful for you to bring some inspiration to your hair and makeup artist so they can see what you like -- and don't like! Photos on Pinterest work well - or just save screenshots to your phone.

The most important aspect of hair & makeup for your photo shoot is that you love it!

Below are a few options for your hair & makeup style!

Hollywood Glamour Boudoir Makeup

Trista wanted a classic Hollywood Glamour look with a timeless red lip and cat eyeliner with a defined brow and dramatic neutral lid.

To polish up the look, she opted for a gorgeous red nail manicure!

You can see more details in her makeup by reading Trista’s blog post below.

Natural Looking Boudoir Makeup

Katherine went for a more natural look with her hair and makeup styling at her boudoir session.

Take a peek at her neutral eye shadow, minimal eyeliner, and a lip color that changes from pink to merlot halfway through the photo shoot.

Maternity Boudoir Makeup

Feeling bold? This maternity session with Erika might be the perfect inspiration for you.

She went with a dark smoky eye and a very dark lip.

Combined with her tousled “bed head” hair style and timeless wardrobe, the look is flawless and fearless!

Dramatic Themed Boudoir Makeup

Interested in something more dramatic or themed?

You may find inspiration from this recent session with Nikki, who leaned into her theatrical side with metallic makeup and black lipstick.

I'm in love with this creative look!

Fantasy-Style Boudoir Makeup

Many clients come to La Photographie for our Fantasy-styled sessions, like this Zodiac photo shoot with the gorgeous Angelina.

With shiny gold eye makeup, gold foil, highlights, and even some celestial stickers, the styling on this goddess photo shoot was a definite standout.

Special thank you to my hair & makeup artists Crystal Rose Brown, Shana Dahrling, Jess Khounsak, Cydney Staples Owens, Aina from B3 Makeup, and Lauren Rennels for always bringing their magic to our photo shoots!
