The Evolution of Halloween at La Photographie
There was a time when my Halloween photoshoots weren't as immersive.
Back in the early days, before Connecticut became home, Halloween sessions were different. I didn't have a dedicated studio space, so I'd come to you, dragging my equipment and backdrops through airports and into the trunks of rental cars. Every single set from the earlier days was often designed in someone else's home, or an Airbnb I'd rented out. I've always loved Halloween, and of course doing Halloween-themed photoshoots, but it wasn't quite exactly how I wanted it. I had to make concessions, I had to compromise.
But then I moved to New England.

And with that move, everything changed.
Once the doors of my haunted house opened for the first time, I welcomed Halloween inside like an old friend. The creaking floors, the velvet drapes, the ornate mirrors that hold a thousand whispered stories… every corner became part of the spell. Each year, the La Photographie studio transforms into a vintage haunted house: one part legacy, one part rebirth, layered with both new and timeless sets that echo the ghosts of seasons (and sessions) past.
When you’ve been doing photography as long as I have, there’s an unspoken challenge that comes with creating something new every October. But somehow, that challenge only fuels the flames. My sets have become more intricate, more involved, and… perhaps most importantly… more me.
Halloween at La Photographie isn’t just about cobwebs and corsets. It’s about the moment you finally surrender to the true magic of Halloween. It’s about honoring what’s come before while creating something no one’s ever seen, oftentimes draped in the shadows. And every year, the walls of the studio hold a little more history… and a little more magic.
I wanted to share a retrospective of the spooky work I’ve done over the years. Some shots are old, some are new, but what’s consistent is my love of Halloween - and of bringing eerie visions to life!
